Wood, Herron & Evans is strongly committed to diversity in our workplace and involvement in our community. We take this commitment seriously.
Diversity
Our goal is to have an inclusive environment and a positive work atmosphere. WH&E is a founding member of the Greater Cincinnati Minority Counsel Program (GCMCP). The GCMCP is a coalition of Greater Cincinnati corporations, majority-owned law firms, minority-owned law firms and public sector organizations. Working together, these organizations are specifically trying to provide minority attorneys with equal legal work opportunities, and to ensure a fair and just legal community.
Wood, Herron & Evans sponsors a scholarship for minority law students who are planning to practice Intellectual Property Law, and are patent bar-eligible. Candidates come from the University of Cincinnati College of Law, the Salmon P. Chase College of Law at Northern Kentucky University, or the University of Dayton College of Law.
We have been actively assisting the professional development of women in law for many years by hiring female law clerks and associate attorneys, and by promoting women to partnership. Additionally, WH&E is an EEO compliant employer, with flex and part-time work schedules, and mentoring programs for attorneys and staff
Community
WH&E is committed to community involvement and actively participates in many community programs. We encourage our attorneys to be active in our local and regional communities and professional organizations and support them in their endeavors.
Our attorneys are members of one of more of the Cincinnati Bar Association, the Ohio Bar Association and the Northern Kentucky Bar Association. We have a past history of taking leadership roles in the Cincinnati Intellectual Property Law Association (CIPLA). We participate in the annual United Way campaign. Among the many charitable organizations we support is the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, through our participation in its annual Walkathon.
WH&E is a member of the Chamber of Commerce's "Cincinnati USA Partnership" and "Cincy Tech" which work to grow our economy by unifying the region's economic development strengths and resources, particularly in the technology sector. This economic development initiative is designed to promote collaboration and cooperation among businesses and organizations, and to enhance Greater Cincinnati's place as a world-class business center.
