Dwight Poffenberger and Bill Allen became partners at WH&E as of 1/1/2007.


J. Dwight Poffenberger is involved in many phases of the firm's IP practice. Admitted to the Ohio bar in 1994, Dwight is also registered to practice before U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Dwight joined Wood, Herron & Evans in 1995, following prior experience with the Environmental Protection Agency Office of Enforcement and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office where he was a patent examiner. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University Of Michigan in 1987. He then received a Juris Doctor degree from the George Mason University School of Law in 1993.


William R. Allen, Ph.D. is involved in all phases of the firm's intellectual property practice. His expertise is concentrated in the areas of mechanical and materials processing technologies. Admitted to the Ohio bar in 2000, and registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, Bill joined Wood, Herron & Evans in 1999. Prior to receiving his law degree, he worked as a materials scientist at three federal materials research laboratories. Bill received a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics & Mathematics from Emory & Henry College in 1980 and a Ph.D. in Physics from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1986. He then obtained his Juris Doctor degree from The University of Tennessee College of Law in 1999.
